Call for papers for the interdisciplinary journal on Western Sahara (Arabic version below)
Tifariti No 2, October 2025
We warmly invite scholars from different disciplines to submit paper proposals for the next issue of the open-source and peer-reviewed annual journal Tifariti. The journal publishes original articles related to Western Sahara from all academic disciplines, including, but not limited to, history, political science, international relations, law, (economic) development, geography, geology, natural sciences, sociology and anthropology, literature, Islamic studies, and the arts.
The journal’s mission is to promote and disseminate scholarly research on Western Sahara, and to contribute to a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge base on its history, current situation, regional and international relations, and implications. The journal is published by the Research Centre of the University of Tifariti (CIUT), a public higher education institution of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in exile, founded in 2012 and situated in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria.
We invite you to submit your proposals for:
- an academic paper (all disciplines welcome), up to 45,000 characters;
- reflections on methodology, up to 20,000 characters; and
- book reviews on topics related to Western Sahara and Northwest Africa, up to 10,000 characters.
We strongly encourage researchers from Western Sahara and the wider region, as well as from connected regions, to submit paper proposals. We especially welcome contributions from early career researchers. We also aim to support collaborative publications.
Languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish (with translation of abstracts in two additional languages)
All authors of accepted papers are cordially invited to attend a hybrid workshop. This event will be held in person in the Sahrawi refugee camps and online; the date will be announced as soon as possible.
Deadlines:
- Submission of abstracts (including 4 keywords and a short bio): 20 February 2025
- Announcement of acceptance: 1 March 2025
- Submission of papers: 15 April 2025
- Peer review process until: 15 June 2025
- Revision of papers until: 30 August 2025
- Publication: 15 October 2025

دعوة لتقديم أوراق بحثية للمجلة متعددة التخصصات حول الصحراء الغربية
التيفاريتي العدد 2، أكتوبر 2025
ندعو الباحثين من مختلف التخصصات لتقديم مقترحات أبحاث للعدد القادم من مجلة التيفاريتي، وهي مجلة سنوية مفتوحة يشرف عليها باحثون متخصصون. تنشر المجلة مقالات أصلية متعلقة بالصحراء الغربية من جميع التخصصات الأكاديمية، بما في ذلك، على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، التاريخ، العلوم السياسية، العلاقات الدولية، القانون، التنمية (الاقتصادية)، الجغرافيا، الجيولوجيا، العلوم الطبيعية، علم الاجتماع والأنثروبولوجيا، الأدب، الدراسات الإسلامية، والفنون.
تتمثل مهمة المجلة في تعزيز ونشر البحوث العلمية حول الصحراء الغربية، والمساهمة في قاعدة معرفية شاملة ومتعمقة الدولة الصحراوية والقضية الصحراوية، والوضع الحالي، والعلاقات الإقليمية والدولية، والتداعيات. يتم نشر المجلة من قبل مركز البحوث بجامعة التيفاريتي (CIUT)، وهي مؤسسة تعليم عالي عامة تابعة للجمهورية العربية الصحراوية الديمقراطية، تأسست عام 2012 في مخيمات اللاجئين الصحراويين.
دعوة لارسال الساهمات العلمية لـ
مقال علمي في جميع التخصصا، تصل سعته إلى 45.000 حرفا؛
المنهجية، تصل إلى 20.000 حرفا؛
ومراجعات كتب حول مواضيع متعلقة بالصحراء الغربية وشمال غرب إفريقيا، تصل إلى 10.000 حرفا.
لذلك ندعو بشدة الباحثين الصحراويين خصوصا والباحثين من مختلف الجامعات عموما لارسال مساهماتهم العلمية لاثراء هذا العدد من المجلة العلمية. نرحب بشكل خاص بمساهمات الباحثين في بداية حياتهم الاكديمية. كما نهدف إلى دعم المنشورات التعاونية.
اللغات: العربية، الإنجليزية، الفرنسية، الألمانية، البرتغالية، الإسبانية (مع ترجمة الملخصات إلى لغتين إضافيتين)
صحاب المقالات العلمية المقبولة في هذا العدد سيدعون لحضور ورشات وايام دراسية حول هذه المحتويات في مقر جامعة التفاريتي وعلي الإنترنت.
