Muṣṭafā Ibn Muḥammad al-Aqḥiṣārī (died 1169/1755): A Bosnian Religious Scholar on the Fringes of the Arab Academy

In my PhD project, I am dealing with the academic biography and work of the Bosnian religious scholar al-Aqḥiṣārī (died 1169/1755). He wrote five treatises on religious topics (such as the virtue of group prayer, fasting in the month of Shawwāl, visiting graves) and two books (a book on the subject of jihād and a ḥadīth commentary), all in Arabic. None of his works have been translated into any language other than Bosnian, nor have they been edited or analyzed in depth. Furthermore, none of the manuscripts have been edited and published in Arabic. My research goal is to examine his works in the context of his personality and to answer such questions as: Who was al-Aqḥiṣārī? How did he obtain his information? How did he build up his network and social contacts? I also plan to edit all of al-Aqḥiṣārī's treatises in full and translate them into German.
