Workshop on Violence and Ideology
Within the DAAD Project "Violence, Forced Migration and Exile: Trauma in the Arab World and Germany"
01.03.2019 – 03.03.2019
Outline
The past few decades have been declared as post-ideological by many and violence has increasingly been perceived or taken account for in one dimension, that of visible subjective violence alone (crimes, terror, civil war). This seminar explores the different dimensions of violence through the matrix of ideology as the relationship that generates the opposition of visible and invisible violence (subjective and objective). It as well engages with more recent critical scholarship on discourses of tolerance and human rights as proposed solutions to subjective violence.
