MZIS Vortragsreihe: Wendy Shaw (Freie Universität, Berlin), "Islamic" art in the 21st century: Of What and for Whom?

30.06.2020 um 18:15 Uhr

Over the course of the 20th century, the art historical investigation of a field designated as "Islamic" addressed various audiences with differing purposes. This palimpsest of objectives has become the inheritance of a discipline rethinking its identity in the context of the 21st century. Addressing issues such as aestheticism, heritage, nationalism, secularism, Islam, and Islamophobia, this presentation will discuss the public roles and methods of a discipline changing from within and without.

Die MZIS Vorträge finden Dienstags um 18 Uhr c. t. im Hörsaal M 014 Universitätshauptgebäude Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1 statt.

In Zusammenarbeit mit der Gesellschaft der Freunde Islamischer Kunst und Kultur und der Deutsch-Türkischen Gesellschaft Bayern e. V.
