Workshop: Introduction to the Turkish Novel
by Yasir İslam Kaplan
10.12.2025
This workshop aims to provide an introduction to the journey of the Turkish novel, reviewing its transformations, main debates, and thematic and generic diversification. Through selected novels, the Turkish novel's place in the literary world, as well as its dialogue with Turkish political and cultural realms will be examined.
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to review realist, modernist, and post-modernist writing styles and literary narrative techniques. Additionally, they will be able to evaluate issues specific to Türkiye from the perspective of literary works.
Format: This workshop consists of five separate sessions and is an interactive discussion class. Participants are expected to read the assigned novel before each session and contribute to the discussions. While attendance at every meeting is not mandatory, continuous participation is recommended for a more comprehensive understanding.
