Teaching Activities

I have taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in the history of Islam since 2005, in Hamburg, Oxford, and since 2009 at SOAS (University of London). At SOAS, I taught courses on the history of the Middle East from late Antiquity to the early Islamic period, from large introductory lecture surveys to specialized BA and MA courses. I continue to supervise two PhD students at SOAS: John Latham-Sprinkle is writing on “Political Authority in the Alan Kingdom of the North Caucasus, 800-1300 CE“, and Tyolumun Kingaa on “Notions of Unborn Life in Early Islamic History“.
